The homecoming dance, which was located at the high school’s East Campus, was shut down after the incident, according to a statement on the Lockport Township’s website. Police took a student, who did not have a gun in his possession, into custody at 7:55 p.m. Seven Lockport officers were providing security at the dance, Wernet said. That student also gave police a description of the reported offending student. About one hour later, a student told one of the Lockport police officers on duty that he had heard a student brought a gun to the dance. The doors to Saturday’s dance opened at 6:45 p.m., Wernet said. Two male freshman Lockport students now are facing criminal charges and school disciplinary action after reportedly handling a BB or pellet gun at the homecoming dance at East Campus, according to a message from Superintendent Todd Wernet. Lockport School District 205 officials released more information Monday morning about a school shooting threat that ended Lockport Township High School's homecoming dance early Saturday night.
